PBSA’s Asia-Pacific Annual General Meeting: Navigating the future of employment background screening

The Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA) held its Asia Pacific Annual General Meeting (APAC AGM) at Four Points Sheraton, Singapore, from 30 November to 1 December 2023. Integrity Asia, as a member of the PBSA, actively participated in the AGM alongside numerous other attendees. 

The event featured discussions on various state-of-the-art topics, offering valuable insights into the employment background screening framework. Key topics included the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in the background screening process, considerations for personal data protection, and emerging trends in digital identity.

During the AGM, Mr. Edouard Helfand, Managing Director of Integrity Asia, seized the opportunity to provide valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges associated with conducting background screening in Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. This is particularly pertinent in light of the recent enactment of personal data protection laws in these countries. Integrity Asia is committed to actively supporting these regulations by prioritizing the security and confidentiality of individuals’ data undergoing the background screening process.

The momentum and insight gained from this event are anticipated to play a key role in shaping the future trajectory of the background screening industry. As the industry evolves, these discussions contribute to the establishment of best practices, ensuring that processes remain effective, ethical, and in line with the ever-changing regulatory landscape.
